Good Shepherd Parable Of The Lost Sheep

The Parable of the Lost Sheep is in two New Testament books, Matthew 18:12–14 and Luke 15:3–7:

Gospel Of Matthew 18:11–14

11 For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost.

12 What think you? If a man have a hundred sheep, and one of them should go astray; doth he not leave the ninety-nine in the mountains, and go to seek that which is gone astray?

13 And if it so be that he find it, amen, I say to you, he rejoiceth more for that than for the ninety-nine that went not astray.

14 Even so it is not the will of your Father, who is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish. (~1859 Haydock Bible Online)

Gospel Of Luke 15:3–7

3 And he spoke to them this parable, saying:

4 What man of you that hath a hundred sheep, and if he shall lose one of them, doth he not leave the ninety-nine in the desert, and go after that which is lost until he find it?

5 And when he hath found it, doth he not lay it upon his shoulders rejoicing:

6 And coming home call together his friends and neighbours, saying to them: Rejoice with me, because I have found my sheep that was lost?

7 I say to you, that even so there shall be joy in heaven upon one sinner that doth penance, more than upon ninety-nine just who need not penance. (~1859 Haydock Bible Online)
